For Strong Black Women Everywhere
To the well-meaning people
who describe black women as
We are made of real flesh and real bone,
when we are reacting in anger we react to real pain.
When our moments, so bold and strong confound the masses,
they are propelled by an invisible push forward.
We don't just breath,
we breathe against a world
that would choose to make our existence difficult.
So when you acknowledge our beauty,
do not make us out to be superhuman,
but boldly and bravely fully human.
